Kirkcudbright Junior Choir
Kirkcudbright Junior Choir for students from the age of 6 years.
Come and join Hannah, Gill, and me, Kate Picken, for fun-filled singing sessions where you’ll make new friends, learn amazing songs, and have a great time!
Rehearsals start again on Thursday 9th January at The Johnston: 3.45pm – 4.30pm through to Thursday 27th March (no choir on Thursday 20th February due to mid-term holiday) Rehearsal on Thursday 27th March in Kirkcudbright Parish Church with concert: 7pm – 8pm.

Kirkcudbright Junior Choir 30th May 2024
Background:
The first choir workshops/rehearsals started in February 2022 at The Johnston Centre, Kirkcudbright: 3.45pm – 4.30pm.
We have performed in concerts in Kirkcudbright Parish Church, for the residents at Merse House, the outdoor staging area in the Harbour Square, Kirkcudbright and a performance at the Christmas Afternoon Tea at GG’s Yard – Laggan.
On the 8th December 2022, Kirkcudbright Community Choir, Kirkcudbright Junior Choir and 4 soloists from Kirkcudbright Academy performed in a concert at Kirkcudbright Parish Church. We were delighted to raise the amazing sum of £1,200 which was given to D & G Social Work to help support children in need at Christmas.
- On the 30th March 2023, Kirkcudbright Community Choir, Kirkcudbright Junior Choir and Kirkcudbright Academy Choir performed in a ‘Celebration of Music’ in Kirkcudbright Parish Church. We were delighted to raise £1,125 for ‘Better Lives Partnership’.
On Thursday 7th December 2023 in Kirkcudbright Parish Church with Kirkcudbright Community Choir and 4 solo performances from students at Kirkcudbright Academy: Kacee Knox on xylophone, Charlotte Baker on piano, Inigo Lipton-Chaney – voice and Ralph Copeman on guitar, we were delighted to raise £910 which was donated to support ‘A Listening Ear’
In a concert at KBT Parish Church on Thursday 21st March 2024, KBT Junior Choir, KBT Community Choir along with 4 young musicians from KBT Academy, Iona, Ralph, Thomas and Fraser raised £980 to support Stewartry Food Bank.
On Sunday 15th September 2024, Kirkcudbright Junior held their 4th performance on the staging area in the Harbour Square, Kirkcudbright. They were joined by pupils from Kirkcudbright Academy in a fantastic concert in support of the RNLI Boathouse Appeal. We were delighted to raise the incredible sum of £735.19. Thank you to everyone who came to support us!
On Thursday 5th December 2024 in Kirkcudbright Parish Church, the Community Choir, Junior Choir and 3 soloists: Eden, Evie, Isis, Alistair Arlo, Emily and Sarah along with a performance from 5 – 6th year pupils from Kirkcudbright Academy held a wonderful concert! The event raised the amazing sum of £1,200 which is going to support local children in need this Christmas through D & G Social Work.

Piano/Keyboard Workshops
Piano/Keyboard Workshops
Developing keyboard skills and learning how to read music through a fun and engaging course. From age 7 years.
Venue: The Johnston, Kirkcudbright.
The first piano workshop started in September 2021, followed by a 2nd group in October with a 3rd group in January 2022 and most recently a 4th group in April 2023.
2 workshop sessions run for 45 mins each on a Wednesday afternoon starting at 3.30pm for a maximum of 6 students in each session with the 3rd group on a Thursday afternoon. Students are working on the bronze level pre grade 1, silver level pre grade 1, ABRSM grade 1, ABRSM Grade 2 and ABRSM grade 3 with the most recent group moving from the beginners course to the bronze level pre grade 1 in January 2024.
Our fabulous group of pianists performed in their first concert: ‘Hittin’ the Right Notes’ on Wednesday 24th May 2023 in Kirkcudbright Parish Church Hall which was followed by Piano Concert number 2 on Wednesday 29th May 2024 in Kirkcudbright Parish Church.
