Professional Learning for Teachers

Would you like to learn how to create your own video play-alongs, use digital tools to support music teaching, or are you looking for high quality engaging music resources to add to your music curriculum programme?

As a music educator with over 40 years of classroom experience, I offer practical workshops and online webinars designed to support the professional learning of primary class teachers and music specialists. Both in-person and online sessions include guidance on using music software effectively, as well as support for teaching a range of my high-quality, age-appropriate music resources - all of which have been successfully performed in end-of-term concerts.

Curriculum-Based CPD for Primary Music Teaching

Whether you're a class teacher or a music specialist, my CPD sessions are designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and support you with practical, curriculum-based approaches to primary music teaching.

I’ve developed a range of fabulous, tried-and-tested resources that I use regularly in the primary schools I work in. These activities support rhythm skills, musical understanding, and pupil engagement across a wide age range.

My CPD sessions and workshops include:

  • Body Percussion, Chair Drumming, and Bucket Drumming
Rhythm-based, classroom-ready activities that are active, accessible, and energising.

  • Tuned Percussion Resources
Creative teaching materials for chime bars, xylophones, and glockenspiels — all supported by video play-alongs.

  • Creative Approaches to Composition and Listening
Simple, flexible strategies that help children explore, create, and respond to music.

  • Music Technology for Teachers
Learn how to use Canva, Audacity, Camtasia, and Sway to create engaging resources and presentations.

  • Creating and Using Your Own YouTube Channel
Learn how to share your own content and build an online bank of personalised teaching tools.

  • All practical resources are supported by video play-alongs.

It was a fantastic hands-on music workshop in Kirkcudbright, where teachers took part in Body Percussion, Chair Drumming, and Bucket Drumming activities using my fun, engaging and easy-to-use classroom resources.

This short preview shows how Body Percussion activities can build into Chair Drumming, supporting pupils as they learn to read and play rhythm patterns.
